19th Century Cast Iron And Marble Console Table By James Yates ( sold )
The most beautiful and rare mid 19th century cast iron and marble topped console table by James Yates of Rotherham. Retaining its original marble top, the base having been painted many many times, the whole now weathered to perfection as although this is an interior piece it has spent many years outside as a garden table. Condition is good, one top corner of the base is a later replacement.
James Yates (d.1881), was the founder of the firm of Yates, Haywood and Co. the ironfounders, at Effingham Works, Rotherham, and is noted for his high quality domestic ironware.
