17th Century Original Painted Pine Dummy Board ( sold )
A beautiful and finely painted, early 17th century dummy board of a young lady, in the most wonderful country house attic condition. Portrayed holding a watch and wearing fashionable clothes of the time, both a show of wealth, this is a rare survivor.
Dummy Board: These were fashionable during the 17th to late 18th century, to deceive, entertain and delight guests.
Condition: pretty much untouched, with a few small areas of old touch in and some dirty and bloomed varnish. It has obviously come apart at some point and has the most wonderful old iron strap repairs to the back, loss to the skirt on the left as you look at it.
