Early 18th Century Lead Greyhound By Andries Carpentiere ( sold )
A wonderful and rare, early 18th century lead hound by Andries Carpentier, known in England as Andrew Carpenter.
In very good condition and standing on its original Portland stone base.
English circa 1720
You can find an identical hound ( one leg raised ) sat beside Diana at Wrest Park by Carpentiere.
Andries Carpentière or Charpentière (1672–1737) was an English sculptor of French or Flemish descent, active in Britain in the early 18th century.
First recorded in London in 1702 he worked as principal assistant to John Nost before setting up his own studio around 1714.
