Large Early 19th Century Carved Stone Clam Shell Fountain Bowl ( sold )
A rare and exceptional Country House, carved stone clam shell fountain bowl, of large proportions. In very good condition and beautifully weathered. Carved in the round and flat on the bottom, this would have sat in the middle of a pool or grotto and could have been viewed from all sides. With an old brass fitting in the centre, with drilled hole through to the base for plumbing. There are a couple of old cracks to the outside of the bowl, none of which penetrate to the inside and do not compromise the bowl in any way.
