An extremely fine and rare pair of early 19th century, cast iron braziers or stoves. The pierced decorative lid, with fine cast brass finial, removable internal fire basket, carrying handles to the exterior and sliding ash drawer below ( replaced ), presented in fully restored condition and ready for use.
This form of brazier I have never come across before, I believe that they were most likely made for outdoor use or possibly heating an Orangery. Having being made in five sections, this would make them easily transportable and you could have had them placed wherever you required, on a terrace or around the garden.
Provenance : The Collection of Sir Edmond Hodson, 5t Bt. (1893-1972), Hollybrooke House, County Wicklow, Ireland Thence by family descent.
