A stunning and very rare, mid 19th century terracotta centrepiece urn by J M Blashfield. The finely cast flared bowl, bordered by simple leaf decoration, supported by four dolphins and standing on a square base, in very good condition and in my humble opinion the most elegant of urns.
This design is attributed to Charles Heathcote Tatham, originally for a wine cooler to be made in silver, the design is circa 1800 and in the neoclassical taste. ( please find images of Blashfields design and the last image is the original design by Tatham )
