Pair Of Large Early 19th Century Lead Grotesque Hoppers ( sold )
A really bold and wonderfully decorative, pair of early 19th century lead hoppers of large scale in the form of grotesques, beautifully weathered and with later brackets to wall hang.
These hoppers by repute originated from the original Alton Towers, when it was Gothicised in the 1820's-30's. The house fell in to disrepair in the early to mid 20th century and when part of it was demolished in the 1960's these were removed.
